Biography
My name is Kyle Thomas. I am 27 years old and currently reside in Bellevue Washington with my beautiful wife Ruth, and my training partners (i.e. dogs) Rylie and Sport. I grew up in Bismarck North Dakota, which made downhill racing hard, but it was where my love for cycling was born. I started racing cross country when I was 12, and started working at my local bike shop (Dakota Cyclery) when I was 14. I raced and rode everything from XC to trials to road to BMX. It wasn’t until 2007 while I was an engineering intern for Transition Bicycle Company that I finally started racing downhill. In the 2008 season, I became a Semi Pro and moved to Whistler British Colombia to coach for a summer camp. Living in Whistler really helped hone my skills as a rider and let me meet numerous industry contacts. I upgraded to Pro in 2009 and have been improving ever since. I graduated from the University of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2009 and currently work for Boeing as a Structural Design Engineer for the 737NG Strut.
